Shellac wax is also known as lac wax, its main components are melissic acid and latters compound withmelissa acid (ester). It's divided into a hot ethanol and benzene soluble (including portions of hot ethanol insoluble);the former takes 80% while the latter takes 20%. The amount of carbon atoms in shellac wax can reach between 28to 34 alcohol groups.
Shellac is a hard natural wax that is rare and hard to come by, its hardness is high and has a high gloss which is sustainable when used with solvents. Its performance is better than Brazilian (canabar) wax and Montan wax.Lac wax has a broad range of application uses for example, electronics, carbon and wax paper, as a glazing agent used in floor wax, industrial applications such as machinery belt wax, as well as packaging for fruit, sealing, bottles, color crayons, cosmetics, shoe polish and bio-pharmaceutical applications.
